(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – April 15, 2015): Tomorrow evening, Algoma University Fine Arts students will be showing off their fourth-year work at the Art Gallery of Algoma in their Annual Thesis Group Exhibition. The exhibition opening is at 7:00pm.
This exhibition is the culmination of students’ work in the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts program, and provides them with the opportunity to curate a professional exhibition and add to their already versatile portfolios.
This year, seven students’ art will be on display, including Frank Belleaus’s “Crane and the Journey Within”, Burgandy Hill’s “Pure Grit”, Grace Worrell’s “Close”, Rhiannon Lanosky-MacFarlane’s “Macro-Mykes”, Sarah Byrne’s “Toska”, Julia Mancuso’s “Passage”, and Mary Louise Dawson’s “It’s Just a Story”.
“Collectively, this thesis group is characterized by a sense of modesty, interacting with uncertainty and ultimate resolve. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them and to see the quality with which they have ended their studies at Algoma University,” said Professor Tom O’Flanagan, Department Chair of the Fine Arts and Music Department.
For those unable to attend the exhibition at the Art Gallery of Algoma, a General Student Exhibition will be on display at the Machine Shop Gallery at Mill Square on April 25th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
Both events are open to the public.
