A selection of movies in the making …

• “Knights Of the Roundtable: King Arthur” – 28-year-old Poppy Delevingne, older sister of model/actress Cara Delevingne, has landed a role as the mother of King Arthur in this upcoming Guy Ritchie adventure film. The cast already includes Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, and Eric Bana. The film began shooting last month with an eye to a Summer 2016 opening.
• “La La Land” – Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone are in negotiations to star in Damien Chazelle’s followup to his Oscar-nominated movie “Whiplash”. The new project is described as a contemporary romantic musical which Chazelle wrote before 2014?s “Whiplash”. It was also intended to star Miles Teller, but the “Whiplash” actor has moved on. Filming begins in Fall.
• “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates” – Anna Kendrick (“Pitch Perfect”) has been cast as Zac Efron’s love interest in this new comedy based on a real life story of 2 brothers who advertise for wedding dates on Craigslist. The ad not only works, the brothers end up meeting some crazy and amazing women. Adam DeVine has been cast as the other brother.
• “Pee-wee’s Big Holiday” – “Magic Mike” actor Joe Manganiello has joined the cast of the new Pee-wee Herman movie, calling Pee-wee (Paul Reubens) “one of the great comic geniuses of our time”. Reubens, who’s been playing the eccentric man-child on the big- and small-screen for decades, was apparently an iconic figure during Manganiello’s childhood.
• “X-Men: Apocalypse” – Olivia Munn has joined the cast as ‘Betsy Braddock’, aka ‘Psylocke’. The character made her 1st appearance in comic books in 1976 but hasn’t had a large presence in films. Munn joins returning stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Rose Byrne. Director Bryan Singer’s next installment opens May 27, 2016.
