The provincial government has announced the reinstatement of the Connecting Links Infrastructure Program ahead of Thursday’s budget.  Sault MPP David Orazietti was joined by Transport Minister Steve Del Duca and Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle in making the announcement this morning at the Bondar Place building.  Orazietti says more consultation will be taking place in the interim with municipalities in terms of the new programs exact design before dollars start to flow in the spring of 2016…

Orazietti says it will complement the province’s 100-million dollar Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund…

Mayor Provezano was on hand for the announcement and had this reaction…

Elliot is the Director of Engineering Services and he says a project of highest priority for the City is the widening of Black Road.    There are about 350 kilometres of roads and 70 bridges along connecting links in 77 Ontario municipalities with the largest portion for any municipality here in the Sault at 24.5-kilometres.  Under the previous program, the Sault received on average between 1.5-million to 2-million dollars annually.
