CarolHughesAlgoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes spoke up about the Harper government’s treatment of Veterans in the House of Commons earlier this week. Hughes is accusing the Tories of using veterans as a wedge to garner support for their pre-election budget and that it should remove items related to veterans from the budget so that MPs can pass them on their own merits…

Hughes added that the government is playing games with the budget at the last minute, stressing that they have made life more difficult for veterans with more than 900 jobs cut from Veterans Affairs since 2009 as an example of that. The Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP says Canadians would be shocked to learn how Veterans have been treated by the federal government and would not approve of the way they are being used months before a federal election…

Hughes says the Harper plan is to try and trick people into forgetting what she calls a decade of penny pinching at the expense of Veterans and their families. She made her comments on Monday during debate in the House of Commons.
