ChamberOfCommerce The Sault Chamber of Commerce says a proposed change to the City’s signs by-law would indirectly lead to the end of portable mobile signs in Sault Ste. Marie.  The Chamber has issued a response to preliminary recommendations from the city on the issue and it is supportive of the proposed regulations for permanent signage but not supportive of what’s proposed for temporary signs.  Specifically it is opposed to a ban on third party advertising and putting time restrictions on the use of mobile signs.  Third party advertising involves placing signage on a site other than the advertiser’s location.  The Chamber of Commerce would also like to see two types permits for mobile signs—-one for a full year and the other monthly with limits that would apply city wide and not at the business to business level.
