SaultPoliceA Sault, Michigan Police officer was honoured at Monday’s City Commission meeting.  Police Chief John Riley spoke on behalf of 2015 Police Officers Association of Michigan Officer of the Year Sargeant Micki Leppien.  Riley talked about what went into how Sargeant Leppien earned the award.  The sargeant used his quick thinking to handle a dangerous domestic dispute in 2014 involving a man holding a large weapon over a woman on a porch at a residence.  Sargeant Leppien fired his duty weapon to alleviate the situation — the accused in that case is now facing attempted murder charges.  Sault Mayor Tony Bosbous commented that he appreciated people in uniform like Sargeant Leppien who keep everyone safe and to keep up the good work.
