Sault Ste. Marie, ON – On June 3rd, the Group Health Centre Trust Fund was thrilled to receive a generous donation of $40,000 from the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 25) and Ladies Auxiliary Poppy Fund. With this support, the end is in sight for the Trust Fund’s current campaign goal of $200,000 for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) equipment.
Fundraising efforts for the ENT Program launched in 2010 with the arrival of Dr. Micomonaco – a highly skilled Otolarynglogist (ear, nose and throat doctor). Four years later, Dr. Amoodi joined the team and the campaign was revived to purchase additional equipment to support the second specialist.
It’s important to note: medical equipment costs are not covered by the government.
“We are 85% there,” said Trust Fund Coordinator, Christina Moore. “It’s wonderful to receive such a generous donation! This brings us one step closer to reaching our goal for the ENT Campaign, and we are so thankful to the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for their continued support.”
The Poppy Fund supports Veterans directly but also helps programs and services in the community. Rob Gardner, Poppy Chairman, said, “One of the areas we focus on with the Poppy Fund is healthcare and purchasing medical equipment for hospitals and health centres. We approached the Trust Fund, and were happy to hear that there was a need for Ear, Nose and Throat Equipment that we could help with.”
While the Poppy Fund contribution represents 20% of the overall goal, there is still $30,000 needed to complete the ENT Campaign.
