ForestFireIt continues to be a quiet forest fire season in the northeast.  This even though the MNR did report four forest fires on Wednesday — three of which are out.  Two active fires of note are Sudbury 32 — burning and not under control on an island near the north shores of Lake Huron and east of Killarney.  There is also Bancroft 7, held at about half a hectare and located southwest of Denbigh.  The province does continue to supply personnel and various equipment to fight fires in Western Canada, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories.  More than 330 personnel are fighting those fires — almost half of that personnel is in Alberta.  Blazes are also being fought in BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.  Closer to home, there are 11 fires burning in the northeast region right now, 7 of those are in the far north being observed.
