Chamber disappointed with ceasing of ACR passenger rail

Reaction continues after the end of the ACR Passenger Rail Service earlier this week.  A release from the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce suggested that it can learn from the experience and ensure that a service such as the one from Sault Ste. Marie to Hearst can continue in the future.  The Chamber is encouraging the city and the Economic Development Corporation to work with it to develop a multi-faceted process of due diligence — with a goal of using those procedures when a third party is interested in taking over a venture that impact local stakeholders.  In the meantime, the city’s Economic Development Corporation expressed that they were unimpressed with an offer from Railmark Canada to continue to operate the service on a limited schedule.
