CitySSMThe issue of better sychronizing traffic lights in the Sault has been an important one to City Councillor Matt Shoemaker. While he is still intending to make good on having action taken on that subject, he is waiting for a seperate traffic situation to be resolved — having traffic lights flashing along Wellington Street and Lyons Avenue from the underpass west to Goulais Avenue. Shoemaker says a resolution is on the way…

When asked just how serious poor synchronization of lights at intersections is in the city, Shoemaker suggested it is a problem in some parts of the city…

There are even some situations in the early morning hours where there is only one vehicle at the intersection waiting for the light to change. What should only take a few seconds can end up being more like a couple to a few minutes! Shoemaker is looking to address within the next few weeks. He talks about how his own experiences with traffic lights that some people feel should be better synchronized….

That resolution is scheduled to be ready for council sometime in the early fall. Shoemaker says a report on the synchrinization of the city’s traffic lights could be done before the end of this year.
