OPPSault OPP arrested a man after an incident of speeding over the weekend.  Police were conducting stationary radar on Highway 17 north on Saturday night around 2:00 a.m.  According to police, a northbound pickup truck was clocked going 50 kilometres an hour over the speed limit.  52 year old Robert Rivard of Goulais Township was charged with stunt driving — his driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was seized for seven days and impounded.  He is scheduled to appear in court on August 12th.

Sault OPP also responded to a break and enter on the Batchawana First Nation.  The incident happened at a residence in the 2000 block of Goulais Mission Road and took place sometime Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Upon entering the residence, suspects injured a family pet.  Items taken included a locked firearms cabinet containing several non-restricted long guns, an air gun, and a camouflage hunting backpack containing a set of binoculars and a hatchet.  Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the OPP or their local police detachment.
