Both the Board of the Childrens Aid Society of Algoma and CUPE Local 5269 ratified a new two year agreement late last week.  The contract is retroactive to April and Local 5269 President Lee-Ann Pettenuzzo says they were able to get language that addressed workload, safety and wellness—key issues for the union.  In exchange the union agreed to another wage freeze in the first year of the deal.  The 2nd year of the deal provides for a 1% increase.  The union says it is disappointed with the limited wage increase and it blames the province for what it says is a lack of appropriate funding.  Local 5269 represents 140 workers at CAS in the district.
