U-S Steel-Canada operations in Hamilton and Nanticoke have been under creditor protection for a year now … with the Globe and Mail reporting that both U-S Steel and Essar Steel have submitted bids to buy the Canadian operations.   The Steelworkers Union in the meantime is appearing before the Ontario Superior Court in a bid to stop U-S Steel from shifting production of some of it’s highest-value-added product out of Canada – fearing it will adversely affect the company’s bottom line while impacting the future of it’s 1500 employees and retirees.
