City Police  City police news release…
In the last several weeks the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has received calls of persons with aggressive sales tactics related to furnaces. In one situation a male indicated he needed to inspect the furnace and demanded to be let into the residence.  The homeowner did not allow the male in and called to report the matter to police.
Further reports have been received that the males are advising that they are with TSAA (Technical Standard and Safety Authority) and that they are required to check stickers on the furnace.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has contacted TSAA and they have confirmed that they do not do door to door inspections. Do not let these persons into your residence as they are not there for any inspection reason.
If you have not called a company for a home inspection of an appliance, do not let that person into your home.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind citizens that they should always ask for identification from a sales person.  You control who enters your home.  Do not allow strangers or unknown person through your doorway.
Do not feel pressured to sign a contract.  Always take the time to read any contract before signing.  A legitimate company will allow you time to review a contract before signing.
