Supplied by Sault MPP David Orazietti… Sault Ste. Marie – The Ontario government is helping Northern Ontario youth gain important work experience through seven newly funded internship placements in Sault Ste. Marie, announced David Orazietti, MPP.

“Our government is continuing to invest in the future of recent graduates in the North by helping employers hire and train new staff members while providing much needed experience for youth seeking employment,” said Orazietti. “The funding announced today will enable seven post-secondary graduates to gain valuable experience while remaining in the Sault and area.”

With the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), seven organizations are receiving funding for youth jobs through the Northern Ontario Internship Program:

Marie – Articling Intern ” North East Local Health Integration Network – Project Coordinator eHealth Intern ” Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology – Aboriginal Culture and Inclusion Intern ” Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Crime Stoppers – Fundraising Coordinator Intern

The plan includes investing in people’s talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.

Since 2003, the NOHFC has invested more than $1 billion in 6,871 projects in Northern Ontario, creating or sustaining more than 25,819 jobs.

In Sault Ste. Marie, the NOHFC has invested over $99 million in 825 projects, creating or sustaining more than 2,981 jobs since 2003.
