SaultMIThe next step may be taken on Monday night to make a formal application to lessen the effect of an invasive species in Sault, Michigan.  City Commissioners are being asked approve the application for grant money from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Urban and Community Forestry Program.  The city would receive 78 thousand dollars for the planting of trees lost to the Emerald Ash Borer.  260 trees would be planted — 100 of those would be hosted by a nursery at Lake State for future planting in parks and along streets.  It was about seven months ago when the submission of a proposal for this grant was approved by the city commission.
