Highly motivated by mathematics, Alexander came to Sudbury on October 17 and 18 to compete in this competition. With the support of his family and school staff, Alexander finished 1st in the grade 4 category.

Mathnasium’s TriMathlon is an annual fun-filled math event held right across the United States and Canada during which students from grades 2 through 5 demonstrate their mathematical skills. Participants completed the following three challenges: the Counting Game, which tested students’ ability to count from any number, to any number, by any number; the Magic Squares Challenge during which students are awarded points for developing their own math problems; and the Mental Math Workout, which evaluates students’ sense of numbers by asking them to solve problems without pencil and paper.

“I loved my experience since I am crazy about numbers and mathematics. I was able to meet new friends who love math as much as me. I had a lot of fun,” explained Alexander Burnham.

“Alexander is an outstanding student who never ceases to amaze us by his passion for mathematics and his motivation to excel in everything that he undertakes. His success at the TriMathlon contest truly reflects the quality of our school and the excellence of our school staff,” stated Mrs. Lucille Vachon-Case, École Saint-Joseph Principal.
