LakersHockeyThe Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) league office today announced a one-game suspension for Lake Superior State freshman forward Jake Hand. Coupled with his automatic one-game suspension for a receiving a game disqualification penalty, Hand will miss the Lakers’ next two NCAA Division I contests.

The supplemental discipline comes after a review of Hand’s game disqualification infraction, which was assessed following a hit with contact to the head of an opposing player, at the 19:44 mark of the third period in Lake Superior State’s game of Saturday, Jan. 23 at Minnesota State.

Lake Superior State’s next scheduled games are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 and 6, at Michigan Tech. Hand would be eligible to return for the Lakers’ Friday, Feb. 12 contest against Bemidji State.
