TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Description of Weather System
A disturbance over the American mid-west will make its way towards the Great Lakes today. Rain is forecast to spread into the Great Lakes region tonight and continue for much of the day Thursday. General rainfall amounts are expected to be significant, likely in the 25 to 40 mm range. There is also a chance for thunderstorm activity associated with this system that could bring additional precipitation in areas where thunderstorms develop.
Description of Current Conditions
Levels and flows remain moderately elevated in some rivers and streams due to recent precipitation, and snowmelt. Water levels across the District are below flood critical levels.
The recent warmer temperatures have increased water levels and flows in some of the Districts watersheds as the remaining snow pack continues to melt. A sharp increase in water levels is expected due to the forecasted precipitation. Flooding is possible given recent rain or snowfall events across the area. A close watch on local forecasts and conditions is recommended.
