CitySSM       City council was unanimous last night in its approval for funding from the City’s Economic Diversification Fund to support a 5.8-million dollar expansion at the J D Aero operation at the Sault Airport. Council approved 250-thousand dollars from the Diversification Fund as this latest expansion will create up to 25 full time jobs and up to 10 seasonal employment positions bringing the overall workforce to over 100 including 75 full time equivalent employees.  The company which has been operating out at the Sault Airport location for about 8-years provides maintenance and repair services for regional airlines and recently landed 2 new major contracts with West Jet and Horizon Airlines. The expansion will involve financial support from the Sault Airport Development Corporation for 2.75-million dollars, a NOHFC funding request for 1.8-million, a half-million dollar funding request from FedNor, and a half-million dollar loan from the Community Development Corporation.
