How many times a day do you wash your hands? A new study has identified the manner in which one should wash their hands in order to get rid of as much bacteria as possible.

Researchers from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland observed the hand-washing techniques of doctors and nurses and say the World Health Organization’s (WHO) six-step hand-washing technique is most effective, reducing bacteria by 21 percent, compared to just six percent with the three-step method backed by the CDC. The six steps of course include lathering your hands with soap and warm water, but also involve rubbing the backs of the hands, the backs of fingers, between fingers, the rotating rubbing of your thumbs, and then rubbing your fingers in your opposite palms. The data also shows doing the six-step method takes 25 percent longer to complete than the three-step technique
