Algoma University’s Board of Governors approved a budget last night that calls for a reduction in the number of employees. The University is not commenting on the numbers involved at this point until the employees impacted have been notified.  The Governors passed a balanced budget of 29.1-million dollars for the 2016-17 academic year.  The Board also approved tuition increases of 3% for domestic students and 3% for international students.  Vice-President Finance and Adminsitration Sean Dwyer says it was a very difficult decision to reduce the employee base but it was believed to be the only way to achieve a balance budget without compromising the quality of the academic and student experience.
