OPP  Highway 17 at White River had to be closed for a good part of last evening due to a forest fire.  OPP closed the highway at White River around 5:30 due to safety concerns created by forest fires along the highway.  The closure was later expanded from White River to Marathon on highway 17.  It was reopened late last night.  The MNR says the fire is known as Wawa 7 and is not under control at 20 hectares.  3 crews are working to suppress the fire on the ground and by air.   Forest fires along highway 11 also led to closure between Hearst and Long Lac—-at last report it still remained closed.  The forest fire hazard for the northeast ranges from high to extreme except in the far north.  At last word, there were eight new fires in the northeast region.
