One Can  Supplied by Essar Steel Algoma…
Convoy delivers food goods to Soup Kitchen and Vincent Place
SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO: Essar Steel Algoma employees have banded together
to help stock local food banks. The response to our One CAN Make a Difference food
drive has been phenomenal, and today an 11-vehicle strong convoy laden with nonperishable
goods made its way to the Soup Kitchen and Vincent Place to make an
important delivery.
Over the past two weeks, the employees at Essar Steel Algoma have been quietly
supporting a community cause. The message was clear and concise – one CAN make a
difference. Some brought a few cans, some brought a few bags; one noteworthy
department of just 20 employees even raised money to buy groceries – $740 worth of
boxes upon boxes of non-perishable goods.
Essar Steel Algoma’s call to help was carried out under the leadership of Department
Champions – employee volunteers who came forward to raise awareness and
encourage participation within their respective departments. Today the ‘champions’
joined the convoy and delivered the food goods to the agencies that will ensure it gets to
those who need it most.
One champion simply remarked, ”It feels good to do good”. Enough said.
