The Government of Canada is investing $100,000 to assist with renovations to Sault College’s waterfront recreational facility and tennis courts. The funding will upgrade the interior and exterior of the building by adding a kitchen, change rooms, teaching and learning centre, as well as a new security system. Eight tennis courts on the property will also be upgraded to competition level, and new fencing will be erected around the property’s perimeter.
Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment. Sault College acquired the property in 2014 through a generous donation. Its use had been limited due to deteriorating infrastructure.
The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada¡¦s coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history.
