Crossings may be Down at the International Bridge but Toll Revenue is Up

Despite a persistent monthly drop in crossings throughout the year, toll revenue at the International Bridge increased compared to the previous year thanks to the commercial truck traffic category.
The Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority year end numbers shows total crossings were down almost 9% last year compared to 2015 but Authority General Manager Peter Petainen says overall revenue finished up slightly…

Petainen says those figures are in US dollars and he says the revenue finished .8% higher than in 2015.
He says commercial truck traffic which finished up by almost 6%…

He says there were almost 90-thousand commercial truck crossings in 2016 up almost 6% over the previous year.
Commercial traffic revenue represents around 37% of total toll revenue.
