Some improvement in the jobs picture for Sault Ste. Marie despite an increase in the unemployment rate.
The participation rate which measures both the number of employed combined with those unemployed but actively looking for work rose more than a percent last month compared to February of a year ago to 52.7%.
The number of people employed in the Sault came in at just at 32-thousand-700—–no change from a year ago.
The unemployment rate came in at 6.8%—-up from 5.5% a year ago.
