(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – March 29, 2017): The Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Athletics Program will begin their 2017-18 season with a new virtual presence in their redesigned algomathunderbirds.ca website.

The new website, which was designed primarily by web provider Sidearm Sports, an industry leader in sports marketing and websites, has a clean and modern feel, which places the Thunderbirds’ official colours – red, white, and grey – at the forefront. Larger photos and font, as well as a more mobile-friendly platform are also key features of the redesign.

The new design allows easier access to content, for both sports fans and George Leach Centre (GLC) users. GLC members will now be able to find all information under the George Leach Centre navigation, featured prominently on all webpages. Sports fans will still have access to full schedules, rosters, stories, and Student-Athlete of the Week features.

The redesign also allows for more advertising opportunities with the Algoma Thunderbirds. For more information on advertising, or to support the Thunderbirds program, please visit algomathunderbirds.ca/advertising.
“We are thrilled with the redesign of our Algoma Thunderbirds website,” said Athletics and Recreation Director, Mark Kontulainen. “The website is bold and attractive and was designed specifically for our sports fans and GLC members. We are committed to making the best experience for our fans – whether they are attending events or visiting our website. This redesign is another step toward that goal.”

The 2017-18 season will begin in August 2017 with the men’s and women’s soccer teams, now both under the leadership of Head Coach Neil Ovey, taking to the pitch. 2017-18 schedules will be announced over the spring and summer months.
