Representatives from Huron Central Railway will on hand for tonight’s meeting of city council.
A report for city council states that Huron Central Railway is in survival mode and profits are insufficient to enable sustainable capital investment to maintain and rehabilitate the 280-kilometre rail line between the Sault and Sudbury.
The report goes on to say that the route was financially viable and efficient while Huron Central benefited from infrastructure funding which ended in 2015.
In 2010, the two senior levels of government provided 3-million dollars and from 2010-15,  15-million each had been provided to support upgrades for the rail line.

Huron Central Railway employs 44.
