For the second time ever, Sault Ste. Marie has been selected to host the Special Olympics Ontario Games.
Our community played host to the summer games back in 2001 and in 2019 thanks to the efforts of the Sault Police Service and Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, we will play host to the winter games over a 4 day period beginning January 31st.
The Games have the potential to attract one-thousand athletes, coaches, officials and families and Tourism Sault Ste. Marie Executive Director Ian McMillan says that will provide a significant economic benefit for our community…

McMillan says there were three parts that made the bid successful—–community support, great facilities and a strong volunteer base…

McMillan called it a great honour to host the event—-North Bay was the last host in 2015.
Constable Shaun Beaulieu of the Sault Police Service will serve as the Games Manager.
