Premier Talks Steel During Morning Meeting with Mayor Provenzano

Premier Kathleen Wynne told local reporters during her visit to the Sault yesterday that her government will continue to work with the parties involved in the restructuring of Essar Steel Algoma as they want to see steel in Sault Ste. Marie thrive.
The Premier says she knows there continues to be challenges in the process including the issue of the City not being able to collect property taxes from Essar Steel Algoma with an outstanding bill that now totals 26-million dollars and climbing…

The Premier says the one billion dollars the provincial government had earlier committed to transportation infrastructure for the Ring of Fire Project remains available.
She says it’s important that communities in the area of the project benefit from the infrastructure as the project moves forward…

The Premier also says the project will move forward with or without the federal government providing an equal one billion dollar share for the transportaion infrastructure.
Mayor Christian Provezano met with the Premier yesterday morning.
