The Ontario Federation of Labour is urging the provincial government to go further than what was recommended in the just released Changing Workplaces Review.
OFL President Chris Buckley says Ontario workers need changes that will put a stop to the rise of precarious, insecure work across the province.
The Federation says the report falls short in failing to reintroduce card-based union certification, a ban on replacement workers and automatic access to first contract arbitration.
The recommendations also fail to provide for paid sick days, adequate vacation and just cause protection for all workers in Ontario.
The Changing Workplaces Review contains 173 recommendations as two labour law experts consulted for two years with workers, unions and businesses.
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is calling on the government not to act on the recommendations without first studying their economic impact.
