The Ontario Chamber of Commerce VP of Policy and Government Relations addressed a business audience in the Sault yesterday highlighting the Chamber’s first Ontario Economic Report released this year.
When looking into the issue of business confidence, Karl Baldauf says the top 2 areas of concern are access to talent and hydro costs.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is hoping the province proceeds cautiously before implementing any of the over 170 recommendations included in the Changing Workplaces Review which was released this week.
The government-commissioned report took two years to complete and while it didn’t call for providing sick leave to all employees, it did recommend expanding a week of unpaid personal emergency leave to all employees as well as increasing paid vacation time for employees of longer then five years to three weeks.
The changes also include eliminating both the bartender and student minimum wage.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is calling on the provincial government not to act on recommendations without first studying their economic impact.
