Anthrax Scare in Sault, Michigan

Emergency officials in Sault, Michigan responded to a report of a suspicious white powder that was found by an employee at the SuperValue Foods Grocery Store on Ashmun Street just after midnight on Saturday.
Police say the powder was found on a piece of paper with a note reading “Here’s your Anthrax”.
The store was evacuated and the Sault Fire Department collected the substance and secured it.
The store’s surveillance system led police to a 48-year old local woman—the woman was taken to War memorial Hospital and she along with the transporting offficer were placed into quarantine for approximately one hour.
They both tested negative for any hazardous substances.
The store was cleared by the Health Department and reopened.
The woman was turned over to Hiawatha Behaviour Health for evaaluation and treatment.
