The executive of OPSEU Local 613 representing striking faculty at Sault College scheduled an information meeting this morning with its members to bring them up to date on the status of negotiations as the provincial government moves to implement back to work legislation.
Local President Frank Turco prior to heading into the meeting talked about his frustration with the process in which he says time was wasted in going through with a forced vote on the college’s latest contract offer…

OPSEU overwhelmingly rejected the offer province-wide and locally—-locally the vote was 88% against with a turnout of 92%.
The results didn’t come as a surprise to Sault College President Dr. Ron Common…

He added he is relieved the province is taking this step to get students back in the classroom.
Dr. Common says the local college is planning on making adjustments to the upcoming Christmas break once students return to the classroom.
The plan is to have students attend classes until December 21st later than had been scheduled and to return on January 3rd—-a few days earlier than had been scheduled.
