A tentative deal has been reached between the Ontario Nurses Association representing more than 50 public health nurses and nurse practioners and Algoma Public Health avoiding what could have been either a strike or lockout today.
The ONA has confirmed that a deal was reached yesterday afternoon during a mediation session in a last ditch effort to reach a deal as both sides would have been in a legal position to carry out a work stoppage as of today.
The previous contract had expired a year ago and wages was a key issue for the union.
No details have been provided yet regarding ratification dates.
