This is Tim Hortons® Smile Cookie™ Week across Canada, an opportunity for all of us to get a Smile and give a Smile with a Tim Hortons Smile Cookie.  One of the organizations benefitting from the campaign in Sault Ste. Marie is the Twinkie Foundation, a new organization formed in Sault Ste. Marie in 2017.

Karen Lefave of the Twinkie Foundation was on KiSS 100.5 Mornings and gave some of the background of the organization.

• Tim Hortons first launched their Smile Cookie campaign in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton’s Children Hospital in Ontario

• This year, the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign runs from September 17 – 23 in participating restaurants across Canada

• Guests will be able to purchase a freshly baked chocolate chunk cookie decorated with blue icing eyes and pink frosted smile for only $1 (plus tax) with the full $1 going to a local charity or organization

• Last year’s Smile Cookie campaign raised over $6.5 million for local charities, hospitals and food banks across Canada

• Examples of 2018 charities and organizations that the Smile Cookie fundraiser will support include The Snowsuit Fund in Ottawa, Children’s Wish in Montreal and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in Vancouver

• More than 500 local charities and organizations will benefit in this year’s Smile Cookie campaign

• In Sault Ste. Marie, participating Tim Hortons restaurant owners will be donating their proceeds to ARCH Hospice and The Twinkie Foundation.

• For the first time, the Smile Cookie campaign will now be celebrated globally with many Tim Hortons locations participating around the world including the US, Mexico, the UK, Philippines and the UAE.

• Want to spread the love? Take a selfie with your Smile Cookie and share on social media using the hashtag #SmileCookie to show your support for the organizations supported in your community
