Algoma District School Board (ADSB) senior staff shared a very positive update and overview of opening enrolment numbers at Algoma District School Board’s first Regular Board meeting held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

Elementary
The September 7th, 2018 Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 8 enrolment is currently 6,381 students, an increase of 223 students from the projected numbers of 6,158 as contained in the Marcy, 2018 Director’s Report. To accommodate the increase in enrolment, Administration has added 8 classes across the Board.

There are 1288 students currently enrolled in JK and SK for this school year, an increase of 168 students from the projected enrolment of 1,120. The Grade 1 to 8 enrolment is 5,093 students, an increase of 55 students from projected numbers of 5,038 in March 2018.
Overall, JK to Grade 8 enrolment has increased by 130 students from September 2017.

Secondary
The projected enrolment in March 2018 for the Regular Secondary Program was 3063 students. As of September 18, 2018, there are 3079 students registered. This equates to an increase of 16 (Head Count) students at the secondary level.

The Algoma Education Connection (AEC) includes students enrolled in Kina Awiiya (formerly Urban Aboriginal), Sault College Connection and Prince Charles Secondary School. AEC currently has a total enrolment of 220 students. These programs are still enrolling students and the numbers may change, as the Board continues its Re-engagement Strategy.
