Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced this morning that the club has acquired goaltender MARIO PECCIA from the Oshawa Generals.
In exchange the Greyhounds send a 12th Round selection in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.
“Mario has worked extremely hard to get back to the OHL after a great start with the Lakeshore Patriots. We look forward to adding Mario to our program” stated Raftis.
Peccia, a 19-year old was originally selected in the 7th Round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection by the Kingston Frontenacs.
He played there for parts of two seasons before finishing the 2017-18 campaign with the Generals.
One year ago he started the season with a 24-save performance in shutting out the London Knights.
This year, the 6.02, 205-lb netminder was playing with the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) compiling a 2-1-0-0 record to go along with a 2.68 GAA and .927 SV% in three games played.
Peccia becomes the third netminder on the Greyhounds roster joining Matthew Villalta (injured) and Ethan Taylor.
He will be joining the Hounds in time for the start of their two-game road trip that starts in Flint tonight.
