The Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department in conjunction with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department will be
holding both a food drive as well as a pancake breakfast to thank and support local federal employees
affected by the partial government shutdown.
The food drive collection begins immediately. Anyone who would like to donate non-perishable goods
may deliver them to the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department located at 123 Ridge St. Sault Ste. Marie, MI
49783. Goods will be accepted beginning Thursday January 17th, through January 25th. Food drive goods
will be offered to ID carrying federal employees and their immediate families beginning January 26th at
the upcoming pancake breakfast, and after at the Fire Station.
A pancake breakfast will take place on Saturday January 26th from 9:00am until 12:00pm at the Sault
Elks Lodge located at 1111 E. Portage Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. All ID carrying government
employees and their immediate families will be admitted for free. The general public will be admitted
into the pancake breakfast for a small fee – $3 for children up to 12 and $5 for persons 12 and over.

employees who are effected by the current government shutdown and their Immediate Family – Complimentary Lift
Tickets for Tubing and Snowboarding every Sunday during regular hours of operation as long as the government shutdown
continues. Active duty Furloughed Federal Government
employees – Please show your government ID for free admission.
