Sault MP Terry Sheehan announced yesterday that the fedreral government has completed what he termed a thorough and science based environmental assessment process that will allow a proposed gold mining project near Dubreuilville to move forward.
The proponent behind the Magino gold mine project is Prodigy Gold.
The project involves the construction and operation of an open pit gold mine and onsite metal mill—-its valued at 427-million dollars and could create up to 550 construction jobs and another 350-jobs at the mine and the mill over the life of the project.
Wawa Mayor Ron Rody was on hand for the announcement and he says this project does wonders for business confidence in the small town…

The mine is estimated to be operational for 10-years with the mill to operate a few years beyond that.
The projects proponent has committed to hiring locally and working with regional and local educational institutions to coordinate training and maximize employment opportunities for local residents and indigenous groups.
