A Sault Ste. Marie family doctor has been suspended from practicing medicine by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
A Discipline Committee of the College found that Dr. Peter Robert Schwarz committed an act of professional misconduct in a sexual abuse of a patient.
The Committee accepted a female patient’s version of events and concluded that Dr. Schwarz engaged in sexual abuse of the patient by touching of a sexual nature during two appointments in the fall of 2015.
Three hospital nurses also testified to inappropriate conduct by Dr. Schwarz.
A penalty hearing hasn’t been scheduled at this point and in May of last year, Dr. Schwarz was acquitted on two sex-related charges involving an adult female patient.
