City council will be asked to ratify a tentative agreement with paramedics represented by UNIFOR Local 13-59 when it meets on Monday.
The proposed 3-year deal provides for an average increase of 1.7% per year with minor benefit enhancements.
A city staff report states that the proposed settlement will help to ease the transition of paramedics to the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board effective the new year.

Details of an arbitration award for the city’s firefighters is included as an information report for council’s meeting.
It’s referred to as a catch-up agreement that is retroactive to 2015 that include wage increases that mirror increases for city police.
It provides for retroactive phased in yearly increases of just over 2% for a 1st class firefighter.
