The City’s 2020 preliminary operating budget will be presented at Monday’s city council meeting and it shows an overall municipal tax levy increase of 3.05%.
For the 2019 budget, council approved an overall tax levy increase of 3.54% in which almost 1% was attributed to an increase in city funding to outside agencies and levy boards.
Representatives from city funded local boards, levy boards and outside agencies will be on hand for Monday’s meeting to make pitches as the preliminary budget is presented.
The City is expecting to have some surplus funds to help cushion the impact.
A nine month financial report presented at a meeting earlier this month projected a surplus of up to 500-thousand dollars.
Expenses are up in the preliminary budget by 2.74% which works out to 4.8-million dollars.
Budget deliberation meetings are scheduled for December 9th and 10th.
