The Missanabie Cree has invested financially into the Marconi Cultural Event Centre (MCEC) today. “The purpose of the investment is to promote collaboration between the Missanabie Cree and other cultures”, says Chief Jason Gauther. “We are looking to invest funds that are for the long-term benefit of the people of Missanabie Cree and this partnership was created to do that.”

Kent Floreani, the President of the MCEC stated “the new direction of the Marconi is towards a more inclusive cultural centre. It was always focussed on the Italian community and now we’ve been expanding the reach of the facility over the last year. There is no cultural centre like this in the city and our strategic plan to create one that fits well with the Missanabie Cree’s direction.” He further said, “the transition of our city to a greater multicultural mix makes this the perfect time to revise and reinvent the Marconi. We want it to be relevant to the exciting future that we see forming and still be relevant to its Italian base.”

Sonny Spina, the newly elected President of the social club, known as the Guiglielmo Marconi Society agrees. “We realize the future is in collaboration. We can have a better facility if it is used by more people. This is an exciting time for the club as well as the newly formed Marconi Cultural Event Centre. My board and I are excited to welcome the Missanabie Cree and to work with the MCEC to promote the cultural diversity in our city.”
