Mayor Christian Provenzano speaking at yesterday’s trail funding announcement held at Civic Centre

 

A FedNor investment of half a million dollars in grant funding is being provided to the City of Sault Ste. Marie that will support the construction of up to 75-kilometres of high-quality, multi-use mountain bike wilderness trails surrounding our community.
The announcement was made yesterday morning by Sault MP Terry Sheehan and Mayor Christian Provenzano says that should allow for construction to get underway in the spring.
City Director of Tourism Travis Anderson says the connected trail system will be primarily focused around the Connor Road area connected to the existing tails at Hiawatha…

Anderson says they will be looking at ways to connect to the existing Hub Trail.
Construction will get underway in the spring and it is estimated that some of the first series of trails should be available for cyclists by late summer or early fall.

The City will be providing close to 170-thousand dollars as its share in the project.
