With the gym’s now reopened, a lot of people are heading back to get their fitness on, but there are a bunch of people who aren’t ready just yet to head back. If you’re the second one and still want to get a work out in and burn some serious calories, all you have to do is some yard work or DIY projects around the house.

According to this new survey, if you consistently do the following tasks, you can burn thousands of calories every year!

  • Mowing the grass can burn more than 4,100 calories yearly.
  • Harvesting & carrying bags of compost, & soil can burn 3,100 calories yearly.
  • Planting shrubs and seeds can burn 2,600 calories yearly.
  • Weeding can burn more than 6,300 calories yearly.
  • Watering your garden can burn nearly 4,000 calories yearly.

All and all, you could burn up to 80,000 calories every year just by doing yard work around the house. Which is enough to offset drinking 963 bottles of wine, or 550 bottles of beer or eating 300 Big Macs!
