Sault Ste Marie, October 15, 2018: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste Marie would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Esquire Team and the community for generously supporting our agency through the success of “Catch The Ace”. The game was a huge success, the amount of $844,000 was beyond our expectations.
This year, our agency, owes so much to the incredible support of Dom and Boomer Braido. We, the staff, Board members, Volunteers, Bigs and Littles, would like to let you know how important you are by helping to make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth in our program helping them discover their abilities and realize their full potential. The Esquire Club has indeed made the agency’s wish come true.
As a not for profit organization serving youth in our community Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie is committed to the healthy development of children and youth through valuable mentoring programs vital in fostering their full potential. The organization’s vision of a community with enriched and happy children where every
child who needs a mentor has a mentor, is only possible with the support of community members.
Glyn Heatley, local BBBS president said that Catch the Ace money for the last couple of years has been a lifeline. “People don’t realize that for the last two years, we’ve been close to closing the doors. Last year’s Catch the Ace and this year’s have not only helped keep the door opened, but helped to open future ones. It means we can expand our programs. BBBS currently services eighty-five children, but there are five hundred that could use it. It will take us a long time, but we can expand now from here.”
Funding ensures the organization can provide quality programming, careful screening, proper matching, and ongoing professional support to all volunteers, children and their families. This support ensures not only that BBBSSM meets the National Standards set by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, but also meets the high standards of service expected within our own community. With this immense donation we’re going to be able to provide even more sustainable programs and services for the children in our organization.
