Local MPP Ross Romano at this mornings announcement at Sault Area Hospital

Details regarding how more than 1.7-million dollars in new provincial funding for the Sault Area Hospital will be used were unveiled at a morning news conference at the local hospital.
Sault MPP Ross Romano says the funding is part of a province-wide 90-million dollar commitment to address hallway medicine and the funding specifically for our hospital will allow extended use of 16 surge beds ahead of flu season.
The funding of those beds will be extended from 5 months to 12-months and carry through the upcoming winter season…

Sault Area Hospital CEO Ron Gagnon says steps have been taken to address the issue of operating at overcapacity…

Gagnon says the local hospital has been averaging about 105-percent capacity in terms of the amount of beds it is funded for.

This is Gagnon’s last day before his move to work at a hospital in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
