The provincial government has come through with last minute funding to allow Huron Central Rail to continue freight operations east of the Sault beyond a year-end deadline.
Huron Central had announced that the rail operation between the Sault and Sudbury would have ended by the end of the year.
The rail service locally employs around 40 people.

Huron Central has been looking to secure 21.4-million dollars each from the provincial and federal governments.
